Advanced cardiovascular life support - arrest algorithms, airway management, pharmacology and post-resuscitation care.
This is a self-paced training module that maps to NABH Accreditation Standards - SQE chapter. It is delivered inside the MedNext app so clinicians and hospital staff can work through it between shifts, with no live sessions or fixed deadlines.
What it covers in detail
ACLS
- The cardiac arrest algorithm and the split between shockable rhythms (VF, pulseless VT) and non-shockable rhythms (asystole, PEA).
- Team-based resuscitation, closed-loop communication and the role of the team leader.
- Airway management during arrest, from bag-mask ventilation to advanced airways and waveform capnography.
- Resuscitation pharmacology, including adrenaline timing and the use of amiodarone in refractory shockable rhythms.
- Reversible causes (the Hs and Ts) and structured post-resuscitation care, including targeted temperature and haemodynamic support.
Who should complete this, and why
ACLS competence is expected of doctors and senior nurses who respond to in-hospital cardiac arrests, staff crash carts, and work in emergency, critical-care, anaesthesia and high-dependency areas. Because outcomes depend on a coordinated team following a shared algorithm, ACLS training is built around role clarity as much as knowledge.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between BLS and ACLS?
BLS covers recognition, high-quality CPR and AED use that any trained responder can provide. ACLS adds rhythm interpretation, advanced airway management, resuscitation drugs and team leadership, and is aimed at clinicians who manage the arrest as a team.
What are the Hs and Ts in ACLS?
They are a memory aid for the reversible causes of cardiac arrest, including hypoxia, hypovolaemia, hydrogen ion (acidosis), hypo- and hyperkalaemia, hypothermia, tension pneumothorax, tamponade, toxins and thrombosis. Finding and treating a reversible cause is often the key to return of circulation.
