Why viva practice matters
University vivas test something MCQs cannot: whether you can organise your knowledge aloud, under time pressure, with an examiner probing for depth. Most students prepare by reading notes silently and hoping the words come out right on the day. They rarely do.
The MedNext Viva Coach gives you a structured place to practise that skill. Pick a topic, receive a viva-style opening question, type or dictate your answer in a structured format, and then face follow-up probes that push you deeper, exactly the way an examiner would. Every session is mapped back to the corresponding MedNext chapter, so when a gap appears you know precisely where to revise.
This is not a chatbot conversation. It is a deliberate practice tool built around the oral examination format used in Indian university exams and OSCE stations.
How a Viva Coach session works
Each session follows a four-step cycle designed to mirror a real oral examination.
Pick your topic
Choose from 3,900+ viva stations across 15 clinical subjects. The coach draws a viva-style opening question mapped to that station's examiner focus.
Answer in structured format
Type your response the way you would speak it: definition first, then classification, clinical features, investigations and management. The structured format trains exam-ready recall.
Face follow-up probes
The coach reads your answer and generates targeted follow-ups, the same kind of 'what if' and 'why not' questions an examiner uses to test the edges of your understanding.
Review against the source chapter
After the session, every gap identified is linked back to the relevant section of the MedNext chapter, so revision is immediate and specific, not a vague plan to 'read more'.
Covers every subject you are examined on
The Viva Coach works across 15 clinical MBBS subjects: Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Immunology, Community Medicine, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology and STDs, Orthopaedics, Anaesthesiology, Radiodiagnosis and Psychiatry. Whether you are facing a second-year pathology viva or a final-year surgery long case, the format adapts.
Questions are grounded in the NMC competency framework and reflect the depth expected at university-level internal assessments, OSCE stations, and postgraduate entrance interviews. The coach does not generate random trivia; it asks what examiners ask.

Common questions about Viva Coach
Is this a replacement for practising with a real examiner?
No. The Viva Coach is a drill tool for building the habit of structured answers and identifying knowledge gaps. It supplements practice with peers and faculty, not replaces it.
Which exams does the Viva Coach help with?
University internal vivas and practical exams across the clinical MBBS years, OSCE stations, and the oral components that come up in NEET-PG, INI-CET and FMGE preparation.
Can I use it for a specific chapter or topic?
Yes. You choose the exact station before each session. The opening question and follow-ups are drawn from that station's examiner focus and expected answer.
How are the follow-up questions generated?
The coach analyses your answer against the source station and generates probes targeting areas you omitted, simplified or stated incorrectly. It adapts in real time, so no two sessions on the same topic are identical.
Is Viva Coach available on all plans?
Viva Coach is included with the Clinical and Exam packs. It covers the para-clinical and clinical subjects, so it is not part of the Pre-clinical pack, which covers Year 1 Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.
