NEET-PG FAQ
What is the NEET-PG syllabus?
The NEET-PG syllabus covers the entire MBBS curriculum, testing pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical subjects that a candidate studies across the undergraduate medical course. It is built on the Graduate Medical Education Regulations published by the National Medical Commission, so the exam maps to what is formally taught rather than to any single textbook. The pre-clinical group covers Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. The para-clinical group covers Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, and Social and Preventive Medicine, also called Community Medicine. The clinical group covers General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Anaesthesiology, Radiodiagnosis, Dermatology and Psychiatry. Questions are distributed across all these subjects, with the larger clinical subjects such as Medicine and Surgery carrying the heaviest weight and para-clinical subjects contributing a substantial share. NBEMS does not publish a separate topic-by-topic syllabus document, since the reference point is the NMC-prescribed MBBS curriculum. Candidates should confirm the current subject list and any weightage guidance against the NBEMS Information Bulletin for their cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which subjects carry the most weight in NEET-PG?
The large clinical subjects, especially General Medicine and General Surgery, typically carry the highest number of questions, followed by the busy para-clinical subjects like Pathology and Pharmacology.
Is there an official NEET-PG syllabus PDF?
NBEMS does not release a standalone topic-wise syllabus. The exam is based on the NMC Graduate Medical Education Regulations, so the MBBS curriculum is the reference.
What are the three subject groups in the syllabus?
Pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical. Together they cover everything from Anatomy and Physiology to Medicine, Surgery and Psychiatry.
How many questions come from each subject?
There is no fixed published quota, but clinical subjects dominate and para-clinical subjects contribute strongly. Confirm indicative weightage from recent papers rather than a formal NBEMS table.
How many questions are in NEET-PG?
180 MCQs in 2026, drawn across all the syllabus subjects and split into five timed sections of 36 questions each.
