NEET-PG FAQ
How long is the NEET-PG exam?
The NEET-PG exam lasts 3 hours 30 minutes, held in a single shift from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm across all centres in India. For 2026 that time is divided into five equal sections, Group A to E, each allotted exactly 42 minutes for its 36 questions. Candidates cannot move to the next section before its 42 minutes are over, and once a section closes they cannot return to it. With 180 questions in 210 minutes, the average is about 70 seconds per question, slightly more breathing room than the older 200-question paper gave. The total duration stayed at 3 hours 30 minutes even after NBEMS cut the question count from 200 to 180, so the reduction effectively eased the per-question time pressure. Because the paper is computer-based, an on-screen timer tracks both the section clock and the overall clock, and the section-wise structure means pacing has to be managed within each 42-minute block rather than across the whole paper.

How much time do I get per section?
42 minutes per section, for each of the five sections, Group A to E. The time cannot be carried over from one section to the next.
Did the exam get shorter when questions were cut to 180?
