Indications and dose
**Acne vulgaris**
- **Child** (To The Skin): 12-17 years Apply once daily, to be applied thinly in the evening.
- **Adult** (To The Skin): Apply once daily, to be applied thinly in the evening.
**Acne vulgaris for trifarotene**
- **Child 12-17 years** (To the skin): Apply once daily, to be applied thinly in the evening.
Cautions
Avoid contact with eyes, nostrils, mouth and mucous membranes, eczematous, broken or sunburned skin; avoid exposure to UV light (including sunlight, sunlamps)
Side effects
Common or very common Sunburn Uncommon Skin reactions Rare or very rare Cheilitis; eyelid exfoliation; eyelid oedema; flushing
Interactions

- Effect of other medicinal products on Aklief cream No clinical drug-drug interaction studies were performed to assess effects of other drugs on trifarotene systemic levels (see section 5.2).
- There is no data on the pharmacodynamic interaction potential of trifarotene.
Pregnancy
MHRA advises that systemic exposure is thought to be negligible following application of topical retinoids. However, since risk cannot be excluded, use of topical retinoids is contraindicated during pregnancy as a precaution.
Breast feeding
Specialist sources indicate amount of drug in milk after topical application probably too small to be harmful; ensure infant does not come in contact with treated areas.
