Indications and dose
**Acne**
- **Child** (To The Skin): Apply 1-2 times a day, to be applied thinly.
- **Adult** (To The Skin): Apply 1-2 times a day, to be applied thinly.
**Acne for tretinoin with erythromycin**
- **Child** (To the skin): Apply 1-2 times a day, to be applied thinly.
Cautions
For tretinoin with erythromycin Allow peeling (resulting from other irritant treatments) to subside before using a topical retinoid; avoid accumulation in angles of the nose; avoid contact with eyes, nostrils, mouth and mucous membranes, eczematous, broken or sunburned skin; avoid exposure to UV light (including sunlight, solariums); avoid use of topical retinoids with keratolytic agents, abrasive cleaners, comedogenic or astringent cosmetics; caution in sensitive areas such as the neck; severe acne
Contraindications
For tretinoin with erythromycin Perioral dermatitis; personal or familial history of skin cancer; rosacea
Side effects
For tretinoin with erythromycin Frequency not known Dry skin (discontinue if severe); eye irritation; oedema; photosensitivity reaction; skin eruption; skin pigmentation change (transient)
Pregnancy
For tretinoin with erythromycin The MHRA advises that systemic exposure is thought to be negligible following application of topical retinoids. However, since risk cannot be excluded, use of topical retinoids is contraindicated during pregnancy as a precaution.
Breast feeding
For tretinoin with erythromycin With topical use: Amount of drug in milk after topical application probably too small to be harmful; ensure infant does not come in contact with treated areas.
