Indications and dose
**Relief of discomfort in mild urinary-tract infections**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): (consult product literature).
**Constipation (dose approved**
- **Child** (By Rectum): for use by community practitioner nurse prescribers) 3-17 years 5 mL for 1 dose.
- **Adult** (By Rectum): 5 mL for 1 dose.
**Constipation**
- **Child** (By Rectum): 3-17 years 5 mL for 1 dose.
- **Adult** (By Rectum): 5 mL for 1 dose.
**Constipation (dose approved for use by community practitioner nurse prescribers) for sodium citrate**
- **Child 3-17 years** (By rectum): 5 mL for 1 dose.
**Constipation for Micolette**
- **Child 3-17 years** (By rectum): 5-10 mL for 1 dose.
**Constipation for Micralax**
- **Child 3-17 years** (By rectum): 5 mL for 1 dose.
**Constipation for Relaxit**
- **Child 1 month-2 years** (By rectum): 5 mL for 1 dose, insert only half the nozzle length.
- **Child 3-17 years** (By rectum): 5 mL for 1 dose.
Cautions
With oral use Elderly (in adults) With rectal use Debilitated patients (in adults); sodium and water retention in susceptible individuals
Contraindications
With oral use Conditions where excess sodium or glucose should be avoided (e.g. cardiac disease, hypertension, patients on a sodium-restricted diet or diabetes) (in adults) With rectal use Acute gastro-intestinal conditions
Side effects
Frequency not known Polyuria
Pregnancy
With oral use in adults: Use with caution.
Renal impairment
With oral use in adults: Caution (contains sodium). M
