Indications and dose
**Monotherapy in Parkinson's disease**
- **Adult** (By Transdermal Application Using Patches): Initially 2 mg/24 hours, then increased in steps of 2 mg/24 hours every week if required; maximum 8 mg/24 hours per day.
**Adjunctive therapy with co-beneldopa or co-careldopa in Parkinson's disease**
- **Adult** (By Transdermal Application Using Patches): Initially 4 mg/24 hours, then increased in steps of 2 mg/24 hours every week if required; maximum 16 mg/24 hours per day.
**Moderate to severe restless legs syndrome**
- **Adult** (By Transdermal Application Using Patches): Initially 1 mg/24 hours, then increased in steps of 1 mg/24 hours every week if required; maximum 3 mg/24 hours per day.
Cautions
Avoid exposure of patch to heat; remove patch (aluminium-containing) before magnetic resonance imaging or cardioversion
Side effects
Common or very common Asthenia; behaviour abnormal; constipation; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; dyskinesia; eating disorders; fall; gastrointestinal discomfort; hallucinations; headache; hiccups; hyperhidrosis; hypertension; hypotension; loss of consciousness; malaise; nausea; palpitations; pathological gambling; perception altered; peripheral oedema; psychiatric disorders; skin reactions; sleep disorders; sudden onset of sleep (can occur without warning); syncope; vertigo; vomiting; weight changes Uncommon Agitation; angioedema; arrhythmias; confusion; sexual dysfunction; vision disorders Rare or very rare Delirium; delusions; irritability; psychotic disorder; seizure Frequency not known Dopamine dysregulation syndrome; rhabdomyolysis

- Because of possible additive effects, caution should be advised when patients are taking sedating medicinal products or other CNS (central nervous system) depressants (e.g.
- Co-administration of L-dopa and carbidopa with rotigotine had no effect on the pharmacokinetics of rotigotine, and rotigotine had no effect on the pharmacokinetics of L-dopa and carbidopa.
- Co-administration of domperidone with rotigotine had no effect on the pharmacokinetics of rotigotine.
- Co-administration of omeprazole (inhibitor of CYP2C19), in doses of 40 mg/day, had no effect on the pharmacokinetics and metabolism of rotigotine in healthy volunteers.
- Co-administration of rotigotine (3 mg/24 h) did not affect the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of oral contraceptives (0.03 mg ethinylestradiol, 0.15 mg levonorgestrel).
Pregnancy
