Indications and dose
**Nausea,Vomiting,Labyrinthine disorders**
- **Child** (By Mouth): 10-17 years 25-75 mg daily; maximum 100 mg per day.
- **Adult** (By Mouth): 25-75 mg daily; maximum 100 mg per day.
**Motion sickness prevention**
- **Child** (By Mouth): 10-17 years 25 mg once daily, dose to be taken at bedtime on night before travel or 1-2 hours before travel.
- **Adult** (By Mouth): 25 mg once daily, dose to be taken at bedtime on night before travel or 1-2 hours before travel.
**Motion sickness treatment**
- **Child** (By Mouth): 10-17 years Initially 25 mg, dose to be taken at onset of motion sickness, then 25 mg for a further two doses, doses to be taken at bedtime, starting on the evening of onset.
- **Adult** (By Mouth): Initially 25 mg, dose to be taken at onset of motion sickness, then 25 mg for a further two doses, doses to be taken at bedtime, starting on the evening of onset.

- **Child 10-17 years** (By mouth): Initially 25 mg, dose to be taken at onset of motion sickness, then 25 mg for a further two doses, doses to be taken at bedtime, starting on the evening of onset.
Cautions
Asthma; bronchiectasis; bronchitis; epilepsy; prostatic hypertrophy (in adults); pyloroduodenal obstruction; Reye's syndrome; severe coronary artery disease; susceptibility to angle-closure glaucoma; susceptibility to QT interval prolongation; urinary retention
Contraindications
Should not be given to children under 2 years, except on specialist advice (potential for fatal respiratory depression) (in children)
Side effects
Frequency not known Anticholinergic syndrome; anxiety; appetite decreased; arrhythmia; blood disorder; bronchial secretion viscosity increased; confusion; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; epigastric discomfort; fatigue; haemolytic anaemia; headache; hypotension; jaundice; movement disorders; muscle spasms; nightmare; palpitations; photosensitivity reaction; urinary retention; vision blurred Side-effects, further information Elderly patients are more susceptible to anticholinergic side-effects. In children paradoxical stimulation may occur, especially with high doses.
Pregnancy
Most manufacturers of antihistamines advise avoiding their use during pregnancy; however, there is no evidence of teratogenicity. Use in the latter part of the third trimester may cause adverse effects in neonates such as irritability, paradoxical excitability, and tremor.
Breast feeding
Most antihistamines are present in breast milk in varying amounts; although not known to be harmful, most manufacturers advise avoiding their use in mothers who are breast-feeding.

Manufacturer advises caution.
