Indications and dose
**Adjunct to atropine in the treatment of poisoning by organophosphorus insecticide or nerve agent**
- **Child** (By Intravenous Infusion): Initially 30 mg/kg, to be given over 20 minutes, followed by 8 mg/kg/hour; maximum 12 g per day.
- **Adult** (By Intravenous Infusion): Initially 30 mg/kg, to be given over 20 minutes, followed by 8 mg/kg/hour; maximum 12 g per day.

Cautions
Myasthenia gravis
Contraindications
Poisoning with carbamates; poisoning with organophosphorus compounds without anticholinesterase activity
Side effects
Frequency not known With intravenous use Hyperventilation With parenteral use Dizziness; drowsiness; headache; muscle weakness; nausea; tachycardia; vision disorders
Renal impairment
Use with caution. M
