Indications and dose
**Fungal skin infections**
- **Child** (To The Skin): Apply twice daily continuing for 10 days after lesions have healed.
- **Adult** (To The Skin): Apply twice daily continuing for 10 days after lesions have healed.
**Fungal skin infections for miconazole**
- **Neonate** (To the skin): Apply twice daily continuing for 10 days after lesions have healed.
- **Child** (To the skin): Apply twice daily continuing for 10 days after lesions have healed.
**Fungal nail infections for miconazole**
- **Child** (By transungual application): Apply 1-2 times a day.
**Oral candidiasis for miconazole**
- **Neonate** (By oromucosal administration using oral gel): 1 mL 2-4 times a day treatment should be continued for at least 7 days after lesions have healed or symptoms have cleared, to be smeared around the inside of the mouth after feeds.
- **Child 1-23 months** (By oromucosal administration using oral gel): 1.25 mL 4 times a day treatment should be continued for at least 7 days after lesions have healed or symptoms have cleared, to be smeared around the inside of the mouth after feeds.
- **Child 2-17 years** (By oromucosal administration using oral gel): 2.5 mL 4 times a day treatment should be continued for at least 7 days after lesions have healed or symptoms have cleared, to be administered after meals, retain near oral lesions before swallowing (dental prostheses and orthodontic appliances should be removed at night and brushed with gel).
**Prevention and treatment of oral candidiasis (dose approved for use by community practitioner nurse prescribers) for miconazole**
- **Child 4-23 months** (By oromucosal administration using oral gel): 1.25 mL 4 times a day treatment should be continued for at least 7 days after lesions have healed or symptoms have cleared, to be smeared around the inside of the mouth after feeds.
- **Child 2-17 years** (By oromucosal administration using oral gel): 2.5 mL 4 times a day treatment should be continued for at least 7 days after lesions have healed or symptoms have cleared, to be administered after meals, retain near oral lesions before swallowing (dental prostheses and orthodontic appliances should be removed at night and brushed with gel).
Cautions

Interactions

- Miconazole can inhibit the metabolism of drugs metabolised by the CYP3A4 and CYP2C9 enzyme systems.

Pregnancy
