Indications and dose
**Congenital deficiency of factors II, VII, IX, or X if purified specific coagulation factors not available (specialist use only),Acquired deficiency of factors II, VII, IX, or X (e.g. during warfarin treatment) (specialist use only)**
- **Adult** (By Intravenous Infusion): Specialist indication - access specialist resources for dosing information.
**Major bleeding in patients on warfarin [following phytomenadione] (initiated under specialist supervision)**
- **Adult** (By Intravenous Infusion): 25-50 units/kg.
Cautions
For dried prothrombin complex Disseminated intravascular coagulation; history of myocardial infarction or coronary heart disease; postoperative use; risk of thrombosis; vaccination against hepatitis A and hepatitis B may be required
Contraindications
For dried prothrombin complex History of heparin induced thrombocytopenia; myocardial infarction within the last 3 months (no information available); unstable angina within the last 3 months (no information available)
Side effects
For dried prothrombin complex Common or very common Embolism and thrombosis Uncommon Anxiety; device thrombosis; haemorrhage; hepatic function abnormal; hypertension; respiratory disorders Frequency not known Cardiac arrest; chills; circulatory collapse; disseminated intravascular coagulation; dyspnoea; heparin-induced thrombocytopenia; hypotension; nausea; skin reactions; tachycardia; tremor
