Indications and dose
**Prophylaxis of macrocytic anaemias associated with vitamin B12deficiency**
- **Adult** (By Intramuscular Injection): Prophylaxis of macrocytic anaemias associated with vitamin B 12 deficiency 0.25-1 mg once a month.
**Pernicious anaemia and other macrocytic anaemias without neurological involvement**
- **Adult** (By Intramuscular Injection): Initially 0.25-1 mg once daily on alternate days for 1 to 2 weeks, then 0.25 mg once weekly until blood count normal; maintenance 1 mg once a month.
**Pernicious anaemia and other macrocytic anaemias with neurological involvement**
- **Adult** (By Intramuscular Injection): 1 mg once daily on alternate days as long as improvement occurs; maintenance 1 mg once a month.
**Dietary vitamin B12deficiency**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): Dietary vitamin B 12 deficiency 50-150 micrograms once daily, dose to be taken between meals, dose may be increased as clinically indicated.
**Dietary vitamin B12deficiency during pregnancy or breast feeding**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): Dietary vitamin B 12 deficiency during pregnancy or breast feeding 1 mg once daily, dose to be taken between meals, dose may be increased as clinically indicated.
**Dietary vitamin B12deficiency,Vitamin B12deficiency due to malabsorption**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): Dietary vitamin B 12 deficiency, Vitamin B 12 deficiency due to malabsorption Initially 2 mg twice daily until remission, dose to be taken between meals, then maintenance 1 mg once daily, dose to be taken between meals.

- **Child 16-17 years** (By mouth): 1 mg once daily, dose to be taken between meals, dose may be increased as clinically indicated.
**Vitamin B12 deficiency due to malabsorption for cyanocobalamin**
- **Child 16-17 years** (By mouth): 1 mg once daily, dose to be taken between meals, dose may be increased as clinically indicated.
Interactions
**Other interactions (5):**
- Such interactions include: Agents that can cause pseudotumor cerebri (including certain tetracyclines): Increased risk for pseudotumor cerebri by concomitant administration of Vitamin A Alcohol...
- Decreased formation of the active vitamin D metabolite has been associated with protease inhibitors.
- For specific precautions, refer to deferoxamine product information.
- These include propranolol, prazosin, and numerous others.
- Such interactions include: Amiodarone: Concomitant use of vitamin B6 can enhance amiodarone-induced photosensitivity.

Dietary vitamin B 12 deficiency during pregnancy or breast feeding for cyanocobalamin By mouth Adult 1 mg once daily, dose to be taken between meals, dose may be increased as clinically indicated.
