Indications and dose
**Hypertension**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): Initially 2.5/25 mg daily, increased if necessary up to 5/50 mg daily.
**Congestive heart failure**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): Initially 2.5/25 mg daily; increased if necessary up to 10/100 mg daily, reduce dose for maintenance if possible.
**Oedema and ascites in cirrhosis of the liver**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): Initially 5/50 mg daily; increased if necessary up to 10/100 mg daily, reduce dose for maintenance if possible.
Cautions
For co-amilozide Diabetes mellitus; elderly
Contraindications
For co-amilozide Anuria; hyperkalaemia
Side effects
For co-amilozide Frequency not known Angina pectoris; appetite abnormal; arrhythmias; arthralgia; asthenia; chest pain; confusion; constipation; depression; diarrhoea; dizziness; drowsiness; dyspnoea; electrolyte imbalance; erectile dysfunction; flatulence; flushing; gastrointestinal discomfort; gastrointestinal haemorrhage; gout; headache; hiccups; hyperhidrosis; insomnia; malaise; muscle cramps; nasal congestion; nausea; nervousness; pain; paraesthesia; postural hypotension; renal impairment; skin reactions; stupor; syncope; taste unpleasant; urinary disorders; vertigo; visual impairment; vomiting
Breast feeding
For co-amilozide Avoid-no information regarding amiloride component available. Amount of hydrochlorothiazide in milk probably too small to be harmful. Large doses of hydrochlorothiazide may suppress lactation.
Renal impairment
For co-amilozide Caution in mild to moderate impairment-monitor plasma-potassium concentration (high risk of hyperkalaemia). M Avoid in severe impairment. M
