Indications and dose
**Oedema**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): 2.5/20-10/80 mg daily, dose to be taken in the morning.
Cautions
For co-amilofruse Correct hypovolaemia; diabetes mellitus; elderly; gout; hepatorenal syndrome; hypoproteinaemia; hypotension; impaired micturition; prostatic enlargement
Contraindications
For co-amilofruse Addison's disease; anuria; comatose or precomatose states associated with liver cirrhosis; dehydration; hyperkalaemia; hypovolaemia; renal failure; severe hypokalaemia; severe hyponatraemia
Side effects
For co-amilofruse Uncommon Hearing impairment Frequency not known Acute urinary retention; agranulocytosis; aplastic anaemia; cholestasis; constipation; diarrhoea; dizziness; electrolyte imbalance; eosinophilia; epigastric discomfort; gout; haemolytic anaemia; headache; leucopenia; loss of consciousness; lupus erythematosus; malaise; nausea; nephritis tubulointerstitial; pancreatitis acute; paraesthesia; psychiatric disorder; renal failure; severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs); skin eruption; syncope; tetany; thrombocytopenia; tinnitus; vasculitis; vomiting
Pregnancy
For co-amilofruse Not used to treat hypertension in pregnancy.
Breast feeding
For co-amilofruse Manufacturers advise avoid-no information regarding amiloride component available. Amount of furosemide in milk too small to be harmful. Furosemide may inhibit lactation.
Hepatic impairment
For co-amilofruse Manufacturer advises caution in hepatic cirrhosis with renal impairment.
Renal impairment
For co-amilofruse Risk of hyperkalaemia in renal impairment but may need higher doses. Avoid if eGFR less than 30 mL/minute/1.73 m 2 . Monitoring Monitor plasma-potassium concentration.
