Indications and dose
**Hyperphosphataemia in patients with chronic renal failure on dialysis**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): 475-950 mg, to be taken with breakfast and with a snack, 0.95-2.85 g, to be taken with a main meal and 0.95-1.9 g, to be taken with supper, dose to be adjusted according to serum-phosphate concentration; maximum 6.65 g per day.
**Hyperphosphataemia in patients with chronic renal failure on dialysis for Phosex tablets**
- **Child** (By mouth): (consult product literature).
Cautions
For all calcium salts History of nephrolithiasis; sarcoidosis
Contraindications
For all calcium salts Conditions associated with hypercalcaemia (e.g. some forms of malignant disease); conditions associated with hypercalciuria (e.g. some forms of malignant disease)
Side effects
For all calcium salts Uncommon Constipation; diarrhoea; hypercalcaemia; nausea Rare or very rare Gastrointestinal disorder Side-effects For calcium acetate Uncommon Soft tissue calcification; vomiting
Interactions
