Angiotensin II stimulates release of aldosterone.
Drug action
Angiotensin II stimulates release of aldosterone. It also acts directly on vascular smooth muscle cells via angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1) to increase blood pressure by vasoconstriction.
Cautions
Peripheral ischaemia (use lowest effective dose); thromboembolism Cautions, further information Venous thromboembolism (VTE) Pharmacological VTE prophylaxis is recommended during treatment; if contra-indicated, mechanical prophylaxis should be considered. M
Side effects
Common or very common Embolism and thrombosis; peripheral ischaemia; tachycardia
