Indications and dose
**Adjunct or alternative treatment in hyperlipidaemias of types IIb and IV in patients who have not responded adequately to other lipid-regulating drugs such as a statin or fibrate, and lifestyle changes (including diet, exercise, and weight reduction)**
- **Adult** (By Mouth): 250 mg 2-3 times a day.

Common or very common Asthenia; gastrointestinal discomfort; headache; skin reactions; vasodilation Uncommon Angioedema; arthralgia; feeling hot; malaise; myalgia; myositis; nausea Frequency not known Bronchospasm; diarrhoea; dry eye; eye disorder; eyes gritty
Interactions
**Other interactions (2):**
- However, the combination with statins or fibrates should be used with caution due to reports of an increased risk of musculoskeletal events with nicotinic acid (a structural analogue of acipimox)...
- No interaction has been shown with digoxin and warfarin.
